Frequently Asked Questions

Do the beavers need to wear uniform for the event?
No, it's not a requirement, but if you as the colony leaders decide that you would like your beavers to wear uniform or neckers at the event, then that's fine too.

Is it OK for parents to come and help if we need additional adults on the day?
Of course - who knows, if they like it enough, they might sign up as full leaders :)
You do need to make sure that all safe guarding procedures are followed though, like with any other event.

Why can't we book a number of places when we make our group booking?
We've designed the booking procedure this way to try and be as fair as we can to everyone. The event was very popular last year. Our experience is that although section leaders are good at predicting how many spots they might need on a particular event, numbers almost always reduce nearer the event - reducing your numbers by 1 or 2 might not seem much, but if every group does this, then we've all of a sudden got enough spaces for 2-3 more colonies to take part.

We do appreciate that new members join all the time - for this reason, you can add more names (and make additional payments) at any time so long as there are still spaces at the event.

When are payments due by?
Payments for participants are due within 21 days of creating the participant places. The Payment Schedule section within your booking shows what amounts are due and by when. All payments must be in by 1st June, latest.

Can we bring young leaders to support our colony?
Absolutely, yes. Just add them as as leaders to your nominal roll (so that we know how many people are on site). Remember though that all the usual rules about ratios apply to the event. It is the colony's responsibility to make sure that they have enough adult cover for the day (this includes any additional adults you may need above the minimum ratio to cover any additional needs for your beaver scouts).

Can we bring parent helpers?
Again, absolutely yes! You never know, they may want to sign up as leaders if they have a really good time 😀. All the usual processes regarding parents helpers must be followed though - again, the colony's responsibility to make sure that this is done.
